Good health has to be backed by good sleep. Sleep is very crucial for a fit and fine living. Again, sleeping disorders can be a cause for major physical and mental health problems.

Many of us often suffer from sleep problems and try out various options frantically in order to fix sleeping disorders. But recently I have come across some natural sleep remedies, which I am sharing below, and they all will help you deal with tension, stress and sleep disorders.

  • You can take a glass of warm milk before going to bed. Milk contains calcium, which works directly on jagged nerves to make them relax. Warm milk also contains L-tryptophan, an amino acid that helps bring on sleep.

  • I have started taking more magnesium and calcium as sleep help, since both of these happen to boost sleep. Magnesium also contributes in keeping heart problems at bay which could have arisen due to the intake of calcium alone.  Every night I take a 200 mg of magnesium tablets and 600 mg of calcium tablets.

  • Along with magnesium and calcium, I also take wild lettuce before bed. It is one of the effective sleep remedies that you can come across. It also helps to calm anxiety, headaches and muscle or joint pains.

  • If you are a beer fan, then you would surely know that hops, the particular flower used in making beer, has immense calming properties. In fact, the extracts of hops are used as sedatives in order to combat anxiety and insomnia. Hence, these too can be great natural sleep remedies.

  • You can also get a massage before going to sleep. This will help you in relaxing your muscles and soothe you to sleep.

  • Have you ever tried aromatherapy as your sleep medicine? If not, then it is high time you do so. Aromatherapy can be one of the greatest sleep remedies. Lavender works as a sleep help. If you can get a spray with real lavender and spray the same on your pillow before going to bed, you would have a great sleep. You can also consider buying a lavender-filled pillow.

  • A hormone called melatonin is an effective sleep help. Hence, no wonder these would boost your sleep. However, experts suggest that higher doses of this hormone could be detrimental to your health.  But you can always take low doses of this hormone and have a good sleep.

  • Learn and practice a relaxation technique regularly. You can also listen to music, played softly. It helps you to get good sleep.

  • One of the most effective and brilliant sleep remedies is yoga or meditation. Gentle stretching and yoga can be very effective in boosting sleep. I occasionally indulge in yoga since this is one of the best natural ways to get a better sleep. Before going to bed, I do easy yoga stretches and also meditation. I close my eyes for around ten minutes and concentrate only on my breathing and nothing else in this world!
